From Myths to Better Care

June 14, 2019

Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor and CEO of Cyft, Dr. Leonard D’Avolio has spent the past 15 years working with government, academia, philanthropy, and industry to build learning healthcare systems.

In this session, Dr. D'Avolio sets the stage for a five-session segment that dives deep into what is required for healthcare to successfully implement machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive better care and financial outcomes. As he will explain, this will require a fundamental shift in how healthcare thinks, plans, and executes.

Those that view machine learning as a product to be installed by IT will fail expensively.

Organizations in other industries have learned to create different teams, processes, technologies, and approaches to capitalize on these new capabilities. Amazon does not install an off the shelf population book selling algorithm. Google does not consider data to be IT’s problem. What’s required is a fundamental understanding of what these new capabilities make possible and strategies for capitalizing.
